Speaking the Truth

Gary is an author, trial lawyer, Mequon-area resident and town of Cedarburg supervisor. He is a columnist for the News Graphic and writes for several Wisconsin area magazines and is a national columnist with The American Thinker and PJ Media.  He lives with his wife, Lisa, and has three sons ages 18 to 28. Gary won Ozaukee County in his bid for the Wisconsin Assembly's 60th District in 2011, but came up just 58 votes short.


Imagine the crime we would eliminate, the tax dollars we would save, the prison cells we would empty, and the human misery we would prevent, if only we could rid the country of addictive substances such as crack cocaine, oxycodone, crystal meth, and heroin. Otherwise law-abiding and productive members of society often resort to crime and self-destructive behavior in order to feed hellish addictions to such drugs. But there is a drug which is much more addictive and leaves an even wider swath of societal and economic devastation in its path. Its street name is liberalism.

Addictions are complicated diseases. Most traditional addictive drugs contain chemicals that tap into the brain's communication system and disrupt the way nerve cells send, receive, and process information. Physical dependency results. Liberalism is far worse. Early theories proposed that traditional drug use led to the practice of liberalism. But more recent studies have shown that some people literally have a "liberal gene" which physiologically predisposes them to an addiction to liberalism and explains why users of the drug think the way they do.
