A Warm Hello from New Principal, Gloria Markowski

Dear community and friends,

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to be the new principal at Lumen Christi Catholic School! I feel so blessed to be a part of this wonderful faith community. This summer has been very busy learning all that Lumen Christi Catholic School and Parish have to offer! I would like this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about myself.

I believe very strongly in Catholic education and I am a product of Catholic education, attending St. Paul’s in Milwaukee and Thomas More High School. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education 1-6, with a Social Science Minor and Masters in Administrative Leadership from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Prior to coming to Lumen Christi, my teaching experience includes teaching 4th grade and junior high at Archdiocesan schools. For the past five years, I have been serving as the principal at St. Charles Borromeo in Milwaukee. I have found that education is my passion, and my role as an administrator is very rewarding to me.

My first task this summer was to hire two new teachers for the Mequon campus. Our search committee interviewed many qualified candidates. We are so happy with our decision to hire Mrs. Kelly Savasta for 7/8 Science and Mrs. Agnes Leider for 6th grade. Below you will find a brief introduction of each teacher.

Mrs. Agnes Leider:  “I have been teaching for a total of eighteen years. The past sixteen of these years were spent teaching the sixth grade at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School in Random Lake. My family and I continue to be active members of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish. My professional career as a teacher began eighteen years ago after graduating in 1990 from Cardinal Stritch University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. My husband, Roman, and I have been married for fifteen years. I have a twenty-six year-old stepson, Morgan, a twelve year-old daughter, Hannah, who will enter the seventh grade, and an eleven year-old son, R.J., who will enter the sixth grade. In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers, solving crossword puzzles, biking, crocheting, gardening and watching old movies.”

Mrs. Kelly Savasta: “My name is Kelly Savasta and I am the new seventh and eighth grade science teacher. I have been a teacher professionally for four years and have been teaching within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Two years of my teaching experience included teaching science and math to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, and two years involved teaching science and language arts at the same level. My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. I am currently in the process of obtaining a Master’s degree, also at UWM, in the area of Curriculum and Instruction. I am a product of Catholic schools. I attended elementary school at St. Roman School and high school at Thomas More High School, both located in Milwaukee. My family and I are members of St. Roman Parish. I have been married for two years and have a one-year-old daughter named Hailey. I am also currently expecting my second child. I look forward to working at Lumen Christi School and becoming a part of this faith community.”

Please help me in welcoming Mrs. Leider and Mrs. Savasta!

I’ve enjoyed meeting many of you at school and parish functions such as New Family Orientation, the Ice Cream Social and Get Acquainted Day. I look forward to a great school year!

Blessings,

Miss Gloria Markowski
