Our recent trip to China is getting a lot of local media attention because of the recent violence in Urumqi. I mentioned in my previous post that Channel 12 came out to Concordia University Wisconsin's campus and interviewed two people who were part of our delegation on the trip. The Channel 12 story ran this past week and focused on our global education efforts over there and how we narrowly missed the ethnic violence that took place in Urumqi. We received some good news this week. A student studying at Xinjiang University, profiled in the Channel 12 piece, was granted a visa to study at Concordia University this year. This is a big deal since very few student visas are granted by the Chinese government. Carol Liu will be arriving on campus in late August and is excited about the opportunity to study here in America. Carol is pictured in the above photo that was taken during out visit to Xinjiang University last month.
Upon our return to the United States, a video has been put together by Paul Ruffino of Real to Reel Video Works in Oak Creek. I supplied him with all the still photos and videos from our trip and he put together an incredible three minute presentation which captures our trip perfectly.
