Residents for Off-leash Milwaukee Parks (ROMP) and the Milwaukee County Park System are pleased to announce the season’s final “Doggie Dip” at Cool Waters Aquatic Park after the pool is closed to the public for the swimming season. A presale of admission passes will be offered during open hours at Cool Waters the day before the dip on Sunday, Sept. 5 from 10am-6pm.
The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory is proud to host Southeastern Wisconsin’s largest Orchid Show, Fall in Love with Orchids 2010, on the weekend of September 18th & 19th from 9am to 5pm.Visitors will glimpse in awe hundreds of rare and exotic award-winning orchids from around the world. Professional growers from around the country will be on hand to share their knowledge and offer attendees the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of plants and supplies.
The 5th annual Bug Day will take place at Wehr Nature Center, 9701 W. College Avenue in Franklin on Sunday, September 19th from 1pm to 4pm.
Milwaukee’s Free 2010 Global Union World Music Festival will unite music and cultures in a diverse setting that celebrates music from around the world. Global Union takes place on the weekend of September 25-26, from noon to 5pm in Bay View’s beautiful Humboldt Park, 3000 S. Howell Avenue. Each day will feature three eclectic live musical performances from around the world. Artists from Mexico, France, China, India and Ethiopia will participate.
The Wehr Nature Center, 9701 W. College Avenue, invites the whole family to Cider Sunday on October 3 from 11am to 5pm. This is a great way to kick off the fall season and enjoy the beauty of the Wisconsin outdoors.
Visitors will be able to experience cider press demonstrations, savor free fresh cider, hear live music, take a nature hike, and go for a Cake Walk (musical chairs where the winner wins a homemade cake). See how to make apple butter and taste 10 delicious varieties of apples. There will be crafts for children and food for purchase.
