Mequon's C. Adams Bakery and cafe to open next week
A popular bakery in the Milwaukee Public Market expects to open its second location -- this one with a cafe serving breakfast all day -- in Mequon next week.
Owner Lisa Krum is putting the finishing touches on C. Adams Bakery and Logan's Cafe this week and next, and hopes to open by the end of next week at 10492 N. Port Washington Road in the Pavilions. It's in a freestanding building that also houses Einstein's Bagels.
ELECTION AFTERTHOUGHTS
Now that the midterm elections are over, it’s time to take a step back and see what happened. I always like to look how the endorsements of the Milwaukee JournalSentinel turned out. The editorial page is led by its left-leaning editor, O. Ricardo Pimentel, who you may recall has stated that he will never return to his home state of Arizona while the State attempts to identify illegal aliens and deport them back to their home countries. He and his merry men endorsed two Republicans and five Democrats in seven competitive races here in Wisconsin. That resulted in three wins and four losses -- not too bad!
Topping the list of winning Republican endorsements was Scott Walker for governor. One could be a little suspicious about this endorsement as a desire to get the only elected Republican in office in Milwaukee County out of town so that the County Executive’s position can be filled by a liberal Democrat who knows how to raise taxes and drive business from the County. At the same time, it keeps Tom Barrett as Milwaukee’s Mayor and one who knows how to raise taxes and drive jobs out of the City.
Lumen Christi Catholic School Treated to Hallow's Eve Carnival
The students in kindergarten through 3rd grade at the Thiensville campus of Lumen Christi Catholic School received a special "treat" as part of their Halloween festivities this year. The Hallow's Eve Carnival was put on by the Faith Builders Club from the Lumen Christi Mequon campus. This group of 12 middle school students works to enhance their religious education by serving others through extracurricular activities. The Hallow's Eve Carnival was the group's first project of the year. Each student represented a holy man or woman from the Bible and designed a carnival activity that correlated with the role of the holy person in the Bible. It was a very fun event that brought in the religious meaning of Halloween for these young students.

What is your plan for maintaining and not gaining weight over the next few months? If you are like the rest of us, you will probably put on a few pounds from all the holiday festivities and feasts. And, unfortunately, those few pounds will probably stick with us until the next holidays when we add a couple more. Thus begins the self-destructive cycle.
