Mequon-Thiensville School District Superintendent Demond Means has been appointed as a commissioner to the Education Commission of the States, the district announced Wednesday.
ECS, which was started in 1965, is a bipartisan organization that assists state policymakers on educational issues. Its current chair is Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
Beginning December 1st, 2010 law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin will have the authority to stop drivers suspected of texting while driving. The law prohibits a person from driving any motor vehicle while composing or sending an electronic text message or an electronic mail message.

The holiday season is in full swing. To keep it from becoming a time of tragedy, Bayside Police Department along with law enforcement throughout Wisconsin will once again participate in the "Booze and Belts Mobilization".
Beginning December 10th and running through December 18th law enforcement will be out in force watching for impaired drivers and occupants of vehicles not wearing seat belts. Our goal is to continuously reduce the number of drunken drivers and accidents caused by drunken drivers.

On December 13, 2010, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson signed a Memorandum Opinion declaring unconstitutional a key provision of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 – better known as Obamacare. In his legal crosshairs was Section 1501 of the Act, known as the Minimum Essential Coverage Provision, which requires every U.S. citizen, other than those falling within specified exceptions, to purchase a minimum level of health insurance coverage beginning in 2014. Section 1501 is administered and enforced as part of the Internal Revenue Code and failure to comply will result in a penalty included with the taxpayer's annual federal tax return.
