Bestselling Author Elizabeth Gilbert to appear Sunday, February 13 at Mequon Elite Sports Club

Next Chapter Bookshop in Mequon, WI presents a special event – “Eat, Pray, Love and get Committed” – an afternoon with author Elizabeth Gilbert on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 12PM-4PM at Elite Sports Club in Mequon, WI - 11616 N. Port Washington Road. Attendees will EAT – cooking demonstrations and food samplings from some of the area’s top restaurants, PRAY – Yoga demonstrations and instruction, and LOVE –couple raffle prizes/silent auction. All proceeds will benefit Gathering on the Green, a community organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of people in our communities by introducing and fostering the future of the performing arts.

 

Gilbert is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Eat, Pray, Love and the follow-up to the blockbuster bestseller, Committed. Penguin Books recently released it in paperback for the first time. COMMITTED begins where Eat, Pray, Love ended—just after Gilbert fell in love with Felipe, a Brazilian-born man of Australian citizenship who’d been living in Indonesia when they met.

 

In conjunction with her new paperback release, Gilbert will be appearing at this special event at the newly renovated Elite Sports Club in Mequon. Tickets are $29 in advance or $35 at the door and will be available starting January 14, 2011 at Next Chapter Bookshop, all four Elite Sports Club locations, and online immediately at gatheringonthegreen.org. Tickets include a signed paperback copy of Committed, access to Elite Sports Club Mequon amenities and event activities including:

12-2PM – EAT – food samplings and cooking demonstrations from Pfister Hotel, Milwaukee ChopHouse, Zaffiros, and more.

12-2PM – PRAY – Yoga demonstrations and instruction, spinning classes, Cardio Theater showing of movie “Eat, Pray, Love,” and more. Guests will have access to club and changing rooms.

2PM – Elizabeth Gilbert appearance & discussion

LOVE – Romantic dates silent auction & raffle

About the Author

ELIZABETH GILBERT is an award-winning writer of both fiction and non-fiction. Her short story collection Pilgrims was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway award, and her novel Stern Men was a New York Times notable book. Her 2002 book The Last American Man was a finalist for both the National Book Award and the National Book Critic’s Circle Award. Since its initial publication in January 2006, her #1 New York Times bestselling memoir Eat, Pray, Love has sold over 8 million copies and been published in forty languages. A film adaptation of the book came out this past August from Columbia Pictures with an all star cast: Julia Roberts as Gilbert, Javier Bardem as Felipe, James Franco as David, Billy Crudup as her ex-husband and Richard Jenkins as Richard from Texas.
