Bonestroo to Merge With Northern Environmental

April 9, 2009

St. Paul, MN (April 6 , 2009) – Bonestroo, a full-service engineering and planning firm based in St. Paul, MN, announced plans this week to merge with Northern Environmental, an environmental consulting firm with a staff of 80 scientists, geologists, hydrologists and engineers located in offices throughout the Upper Midwest.

The merger, effective May 1, is part of a growth strategy to broaden services to public, private, industrial, and energy sector clients. Northern Environmental specializes in environmental compliance and industrial hygiene, property assessment and development/redevelopment, contaminant investigation and remediation, and natural resources management.

Bonestroo CEO Jerry Bourdon said, “This merger is the culmination of a 20-year business relationship between Bonestroo and Northern Environmental. It will provide our clients an even broader range of services to address a variety of environmental project demands. Through its practical and business-sensitive solutions to clients, Northern Environmental’s staff and capabilities will complement those of Bonestroo. We look forward to this new phase in our long-standing collaboration.”

“This is an exciting time for both of our firms,” said Dave Rautmann, Northern Environmental co-founder and president. “We expect the merger to result in better service for our clients, better projects for our employees, and even more success for the company as a whole. This merger is about synergy. We simply see great opportunity working together as one.”

Bonestroo and Northern Environmental will integrate the two organizations over the next several months under the Bonestroo name. Northern Environmental has offices in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Waupun, Crivitz and Park Falls, WI; Chicago, IL; Cedar Rapids, IA; St. Paul, MN; and Houghton, MI. We expect the merger to result in growth in all of our offices.
