Concordia University Adds Lacrosse to its Intercollegiate Athletic Teams
Concordia University Wisconsin has just announced that it will offer NCAA Division III men’s and women’s varsity lacrosse beginning in the spring of 2011. CUW Director of Athletics, Dr. Rob Barnhill, and his staff, will soon begin the process of identifying and selecting head coaches.
“Lacrosse has become increasingly popular in high schools and clubs in the Midwest in recent years,” noted Barnhill. “We believe there is sufficient interest from prospective student athletes to support the sport here at Concordia and this growth is consistent with strategic campus initiatives,” said Barnhill. “Because lacrosse is played in the spring, we believed this would be a good fit and would complement our current athletic offerings and facilities.”
CUW sponsors 18 Northern Athletics Conference-sponsored sports (plus men’s and women’s hockey and wrestling, which play in separate leagues.)
