Fall Musical Highlights the Life and Career of American Icon Will Rogers
The drama program at Concordia University Wisconsin is performing the Tony Award-winning musical The Will Rogers Follies Oct. 22 through Oct. 25 in the Todd Wehr Auditorium on Concordia’s main campus. The production is under the direction of Dr. David Eggebrecht, professor of Theatre at Concordia University.
“I’m thrilled to be directing the students and community members who are involved in this production,” said Eggebrecht. “Will Rogers’ life was cut short in a plane crash at the height of his popularity and this musical celebrates his life and career,” Eggebrecht added.
After 33 previews, the Broadway production of The Will Rogers Follies opened on May 1, 1991 at the Palace Theatre, and closed on Sept. 5, 1993 after 931 performances. Born in 1879, Will Rogers, to this day, is still considered one of the all- time great humorists.
