Homestead High School Camerata Holiday Concerts
Homestead High School’s Camerata will perform a free Holiday Concert, Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 4:00 PM at Mequon United Methodist Church, 11011 N. Oriole Lane, Mequon.
The hour-long program will feature choral music from Christmas and Hanukkah traditions as well as secular and sacred music from many different cultures and musical eras. The public is invited to attend this free community concert.
Camerata, directed by Rebecca Renee Winnie, is an auditioned co-curricular ensemble of mixed voices, selected from Homestead’s two advanced choirs. Camerata performs chamber music in a variety of styles, and is a musical ambassador for Homestead High School in the Mequon-Thiensville community, as well as the featured ensemble at the choral Holiday Celebration.
On Sunday, December 13, Homestead High School will continue the celebration of its 50th Anniversary with an Open House for the community from 1:30- 3:30 PM. Everyone is invited to stop by the cafeteria to watch the rehearsals for Homestead Choral Program’s Holiday Celebration, and perhaps take a chance on what’s available on the raffle table through the purchase of raffle tickets. Better yet, join the choirs for their annual Holiday Celebration that evening. Camerata, the Singing Servers, and the Holiday Strings (an ensemble from the Homestead orchestra) will present an evening of mirth, melody and merry-making in the festively transformed Homestead High School cafeteria starting at 4:30 PM. Program/dinner tickets are available for $35.00, and must be purchased in advance. This traditional Holiday Celebration will include Christmas and Hanukkah music, poetry, and an elegant dinner. Proceeds will benefit the Homestead Choral Education Enrichment and Endowment Funds. More information about tickets and the choirs is available on the choir website - [ http://email.mtsd.k12.wi.us/~rwinnie/ ]http://email.mtsd.k12.wi.us/~rwinnie/ . The public is heartily encouraged to join the Homestead Choirs in celebrating the holidays with family, friends, music, and Camerata. Programming starts at 4:30 PM, with dinner at 5:30.
