Concordia University Graduation Set for December 19
A retired Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy, Rev. Dr. Donald K. Muchow, will be the commencement speaker at Concordia University Wisconsin’s December 2009 graduation. The ceremony will take place on December 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the R. John Buuck Field House located on CUW’s Mequon campus.
Ordained into the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in 1962 and commissioned in the Naval Reserve in 1964, Muchow was ordered to active duty in 1967. His assignments have ranged from serving various warships, combat Marines, naval hospitals and shore bases. Over the years his ministry carried him from Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and the Arabian Desert.
Muchow was also the Navy’s twentieth Chief of Chaplains and retired in 1997 with full military honors. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
“We are truly honored to have Rev. Dr. Muchow as our commencement speaker in December,” says Dr. William Cario, senior vice president of academics at CUW. “His decades of service to the country and Lutheran Church serve as a shining example to our graduates,” Cario added.
Muchow’s numerous military awards include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit. He currently resides in Buda, TX with his wife. He has two grown sons and four grandchildren.
